Who The Hell Are We?

We’ll start with the elevator pitch first: PHXTechScene is a volunteer-driven news/culture site dedicating to covering the people, places and ideas rocking the Phoenix tech space.PHXLogo1

Founded in 2016, we focus on what’s new and next in the city’s emerging tech ecosystem. We want to provide a forum not just for original reporting and sharing others’ great content, but also for creators, disrupters, visionaries and fellow travelers to tell their own stories. We believe this platform can be of value to those looking to stay connected but also to startups and innovators looking to expand their visibility to potential users and investors. Behind every product launch, code academy and coworking tenant upgrading to brick-and-mortar is a story. Let us help you tell it.

The long story: Ok, so here’s what really happened. PHXTechScene sparked out of a chance meeting, an information vacuum and a crippling inability for one woman to handle free time.

We got the idea for a blog focused exclusively on the Phoenix tech scene after talking with a few local startups about the need for a consistent, dedicated news platform to connect with audiences outside of their immediate circle of friends, users and investors. Having spent most of her life in Silicon Valley, Silicon Alley and Silicon Beach, it occurred to our editor that a dynamic tech scene can’t truly thrive without a healthy number of media channels supporting it. Phoenix is already well served by @azcentral, @phxbizjournal, @phxnewtimes and of course the trail blazing @aztechbeat—but we figured the more the merrier. So we called in a few favors, pulled together a few dollars and recruited a stellar volunteer team of ASU students, policy wonks, tech aficionados and all-around go getters. Within eight hours of that initial conversation, PHXTechScene was born.

Then we scrambled like hell and got this baby off the ground soon after.

We can’t wait to get to know you, your business and your ideas. (Seriously, hit up our editor at jamarah@phxtechscene.com. We’d love to help tell your story!)
